New Night Vision Speed Camera coming to a road near you!

Police forces in the UK are being equipped with a new £10,000 speed gun that can check speed and read a vehicle’s number plate from up to 750 metres away – the realm twist is that it now has night vision so can do this whether its daylight or not!

The camera can identify an offending car from half a mile away, upload their information to a database and issue a penalty charge notice without having to pull the driver over to the side of the road.

The machine can actually read licence plates up to 1.5 miles away but the UK Government has calibrated these back to conform to UK best practice.  Gloucestershire, Northumbria and Warwickshire constabularies have already started using the TruCam II.
